Smart phones, not so smart humans!

What technology would you be better off without, why?

Smart phones…yes they are very smart, but they make us talk less to each other, stop listening to each other, stop looking at each other and stop meeting up with each other.  We have to have stupid alerts that show us we spend too much time on our phones. Too much screen time. We used to call each other and talk for hours, now we just send a few words…or even worse a gif or an emoji. We stopped communicating with each other to the point we can’t tell if we’re talking to another human being or a bot, that’s a robot to you and me. In that sense our ‘smart’ phones have made us look stupid.

When one screen isn’t enough

We used to write everything down, we took pride in our handwriting, now we just use our thumbs. We don’t even need to think about our spelling or grammer, our phone will fix it for us. In some cases we care more about the loss of our phone than we do about other human beings, our smart phones have dulled our compassion.

We used to go out shopping to buy things, pick up actual books to read them, exercise our brains by remembering phone numbers, and sending letters and postcards to our friends and family.  So yes, I’d like to go back to the 80’s and have analogue dial phones, and go back to talking to each other, and all the other things we took for granted, cos now our phone does it for us!

This is so true. I know I’m not that old but it’s amazing how many numbers I used to have in my head that are completely lost because I’m so used to being able to access them on my phone. then when I get a new phone, I’m in trouble:)
