Do you need time?
We all say we want more time, but for the most part we don’t respect the time we already have, or we wouldn’t need more. Think of it like this, how we spend out time is how we waste our time! Do you favour a night in front of the TV over something more enjoyable because it required more effort? How many times has a week or weekend flown by because we failed to fill it with value. That TV called to you, or your bed, or the pub or worst of all the dreaded Internet doom scrolling.
Think back to the last time you bumped into someone quite by chance and had a quick 5 min catch up, and when you walked away you felt lifted in spirit, you may not have felt low prior to the ‘meet’, but after you definitely had a more purposeful spring in you step and maybe even a smile on your face.
Those are the moments we should be filling our lives with, happy interactions with others, whether on purpose or by accident. Getting out into the world and saying hello to people. Every morning I take Harper out for a walk, sometimes we see people sometimes we don’t, but the happier walks are always the ones where I walked past someone and smiled and said good morning, and they replied with a smile and a good morning back. Already I have had a positive impact on someones day and they on mine, we made each other smile.

I started to get up earlier to walk Harper, so that our walk wasn’t hurried. I could take my time, appreciate Harper sniffing everything, looking about, and continuing on her little daily adventure. I’ve decided I believe that’s how she sees it, because she is so happy to start it every day.

I choose not to sit in front of the gogglebox each night, instead I started jigsaws to decompress, which progressed into paint by numbers, so now I have my own artwork on the wall. These progressed to custom photos from my phone of family and friends, my walls are filled with love as opposed to random pictures and posters from IKEA. I learnt how to frame the canvases, I started doing other craft oriented things, learning as I go along new skills. On a recent holiday I did a jewelry making class and made a silver ring, I loved it, so I guess this could be next adventure that fills my time. But not one night do I say “I miss the TV!”

My time isn’t wasted, it’s filled with fun stuff, with books and crafts, writing and blogging, cooking & creating. How do you fill your time? If it’s with rubbish and wasted, what do you intend to change?
