What advice would you give to your teenage self?
Water ~Exercise ~ Sleep ~ Save
Yep it’s as simple as that …. Drink water, consistent exercise, get plenty of sleep and save money.
Man if I had done these 4 things as routine from an early age I would be laughing now. Instead I have to remind myself to save money, drink water, go for a walk and get your steps in and get to bed at a decent time.
DRINK WATER
Sounds simple right, yet some of us have to have apps or watches to remind us. If we drank enough water our bodies would work better, look better and feel better. We would be able to flush out the crap that shouldn’t be there, instead we store it and makes us sick in one way or another. We don’t really keep our cars running on empty fuel tanks or our phones only charged to 5%, yet we do it to our bodies by withholding hydration. With the right perspective it sounds obvious, but I bet a lot of us have to focus on drinking more water instead of it coming to us as second nature.
CONSITANT EXERCISE
Just a 30 min walk a day or 10/15mins stretching routine or just something simple that keeps us fitter. I wonder if I had had this banged into my head as a matter of a daily morning routine all those years ago, would I ache as much when I get out of bed in the morning! Would it be les of a challenge to stand on 1 leg and balance without wobbling, could I touch my toes without it feeling like I was being tortured in some way and that my flexibility and fitness was merely a distant memory.
GREAT RESTORATIVE SLEEP
Just imagine not needing an app to tell you how much sleep you’d had or would need or should have, because you were already intelligent enough to have been getting what your body needed for the last 40+yrs. You didn’t stay up watching some rubbish on the TV or doom scrolling into the early hours, because you knew better and went to bed earlier and got plenty of regenerative sleep, and woke up refreshed and ready for the day!
SAVE & INVEST
They say you always find money to pay your bills, yet most of us see what we have left at the end of the month and save that, ha! if there’s anything left over that is. If we switched it and straight off the bat saved 25% of our earnings, lived within our means, spent money on doing things and creating memories, instead of on ‘stuff’ that we don’t need and have to go around dusting for the rest of our lives, or go out if fashion within a few months ,…. Our savings and investments could enable us to retire early, and if we so desired go travelling all over the world and really live our lives no longer in that rat race.
Come to think of it, I’m fairly sure some adults in my formative years said exactly these things and I chose not to listen ! Damn it! If only I’d have known to listen more closely I could be doing yoga on my yacht as I sail around the world!
